Tokyo Tsukiji Market
Finally back to my Tokyo travelogue post Day 7 & 8!!
My second last day in Tokyo saw me rising up super early (6am???) to head over to TSUKIJI MARKET!! But even still, we missed the world famous auction action!! To be able to view the auction of the tunas (like those you have seen on CNA lol) you gotta reach the market at like 4-5am?? Which is super duper early for me so we gave the thought up~ To be able to eat at the sushi restaurants in the market itself, u gotta reach early as well since most of them close by 1pm or even earlier!

An example of how the auction looks like~
We got really lost when we reached the market as it was really big!! We ended up at some vege corner... lol which looked really weird and out of place. So we asked the friendly Jap locals and they directed us to the sushi area!!
WHOOOO BREAKFAST HERE I COMEEEE!!
Anyway... so we arrived to see this massive long queue in the cold outside Sushi Dai.
which is mad!!!! No way am I gonna queue >1hr in the cold just for sushis!!
Luckily... I did my research and found out that the stall beside Sushi Dai called DAIWAZUSHI is almost as good and it is also cheaper!! Not sure if its true but I read off somewhere that the owner of Daiwazushi is actually the son of the owner of Sushi Dai. They each opened their own stalls to 'compete' to see who can get the best catch of the day~ I think that kinda explains the 'Dai' word in both stalls? Hehehe
Queued for approx 30mins for Daiwazushi before we were seated inside the small sushi restaurant!
This picture explains the long waiting time!! The max seating capacity is about 15 people I guess??
For the curious, here's the menu and pricing~
I went in and immediately told the chefs that I wanted 2 OMAKASE!
Omakase kinda means "I'll leave it to you(chefs)" and they'll give you a set of the best catches of the day!! So I guess the Omakase set differs everyday since it's not fixed and it depends on the catch of the day!
Not sure what this is.. I reckon fatty tuna and...
And when I ate it... my expression became
.
.
MIND-BLOWN
I NEARLY EXPLODED OUT OF MY SEAT AS I WAS EATING THIS THEN
IT WAS B.E.Y.O.N.D W.O.R.D.S !!
My favourite sashimi of all time was Salmon sashimi but this instantly took over the 1st place lol.
THIS WAS THE BEST BEST BEST ULTIMATE FREAKING BEST SASHIMI I HAVE EVER ATE
It makes me wanna cry... How can it taste so gooood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The other sashimis which were all good but nothing was as good as the fatty tuna(?)!!!!
And very surprisingly.. they didn't serve us salmon sashimi?? What!!! But I am not complaining since I have now tasted the best sashimi ever on earth... And I know I can never find such good sashimi ever again, not in Singapore, not elsewhere. Anyway we also ordered extra abalone sashimi which I thought was the meh-est of all.. you know abalone are usually soft, chewy and rubbery?? This was CRUNCHY. So weird. Lol
Happy me!!!
What a big fat tuna they had caught!
The super friendly sushi chefs and I!! :D
Total bill came up to about $50/person I guess, which shocked me cuz I expected to pay about $80-$100 for the sushis from Tsukiji Market! Seriously happy after eating the best sashimi sushi!!

After a satisfying breakfast.. we headed to AKIHABARA!!
It is Tokyo's electronic town and I thought it'd be pretty interesting to visit this area, especially since Japan is so advanced in their technology! However, when we reached... I got a shock cuz it felt more like a porn town than electronic town!?
Seriously.. there were adult shops at every single corner in every single lane!!!
Since we were already there, we decided to check them out. LOL
EEWWW PLZZ
Didn't dare to take much pics inside though.. thought it was quite offending and there were random male guys staring at me~
Anime porn dvd anyone?? Lol
There's also the AKB48 cafe over in Akihabra!!
Siao one all these uncles queuing up just to enter this cafe?? Lol
It was seriously like 98% males queuing up please!
There is also a Gandum cafe here!
And also a maid cafe!!
Really wanted to check this out but there was a minimum order rule which was so lame.. so we didn't enter in the end~
LOVE THIS SHOT ^^
Met up with Kareena at Harajuku to shop and take neoprints!!
Love how exaggerating the Japanese neoprint machines can get.
My eyes became triple the normal size and my legs became bamboo sticks equivalent. LOL
Harajuku, one of my favourite place to be!! I came here a total of 3 times and there's always still so much to see!
SOBA Tempura for early dinner!
And whenever in Harajuku.......
HOW CAN I MISSED OUT ON MY CREPES!?!??!?!
I was actually kinda sad that day while eating this cuz I know it would be my last time eating it! Need need need to find a similar crepe in Singapore... but so far I haven't encountered any. Saddd
If you know of any, PLEASE TELL ME!! :(
FAVOURITE
Even Jj loves it!! Lol #eatcleandietfail
We walked all the way from Harajuku to Shibuya (since it was only a 1 train station difference!) just to see the famous Shibuya crossing when its all lighted up at night!
.
.
Day 8 was our last day in Tokyo!
Jj and I roamed around Shinjuku area to explore the other unexplored areas~
TOKYO METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT TOWER
Entry was free and the view was really good! ^^
Jap curry rice~
One last shot of Tokyo streets~
We seriously walked the WHOLE of Shinjuku until our legs were so sore!!! We also visited the Korean Town in Shinjuku but no pictures cuz it was quite a small town and there was nothing much except food... took a break at Starbucks too to rest our tired feet and also to people watch~ Love the chill life yo
Then we finally had our last meal in Tokyo which was Shinjuku's Standing Sushi Bar again!
Love it! It was cheap and good!!
The burnt squid was my favourite!!
I'M IN KITKAT HEAVEN~
Took this amazing overnight coach to Kyoto!!
It was simply amazing and ultra comfy.. none of us wanted to get out of it when we arrived in Kyoto! LOL
.
.
And that's the end of my 8 days of Tokyo adventures!!
Next up would be scenic Kyoto~
TILL THEN ❤
Hello Shenny, can I know which company did you book with for the overnight coach to Kyoto, and if you had to book it way in advance? Thanks! :)

Willer Express.
DeleteYup I booked in advanced in Singapore to secure the seats! I don't really like to do last minute planning shit when I am on the go travelling lol. Rather settle it before I embark on the trip cuz I don't like the uncertainty and 'omg what do i do now' feeling.. hahaha
if u want u can try book over there? But gotta risk having the coach being fully booked already!
