Tokyo Day 5: Senso-Ji Temple, Tokyo Tower & Ninja Akasaka
Some ohohteedee shots before starting the day!
We headed over to ASAKUSA for our first stop and had lunch at Namiki Yabu Soba!
NAMIKI YABU SOBA
2-11-9 Kaminarimon, Taito, Tokyo Prefecture (Near Senso-ji Temple, Asakusa)
+81 3-3841-1340
Cutie kitty tattoo stockings to keep me warm!
All of us had the Cold Soba Set!
This is one of Tokyo's most well known Soba shop and was also recommended by Lonely Planet.. and also rated like 4.5/5 on Tripadvisor etc so we decided to give it a try! I haven't tried alot of soba before so I thought it was actually quite good compared to others I tried! But Jj and Karx thought otherwise... hahaha they were commenting that the cold soba wasn't cold enough and some other stuff that I cannot remember!!
Maybe it's just our taste buds?? Lol. So many people said its good so I guess it can't be wrong!
It's just us la maybe. Hahah.
Tempura to go along with the Soba! I love tempura!!!
I remember I was busy snapping pictures of our food and a few elderly locals patronising the stall were giggling at me.
Lol funny meh?
After lunch, we headed to the famous Senso-ji Temple which was just a 5mins walk away.
Saw alot of people touching the bottom golden part of the red lantern... We don't know what it actually signifies but it probably meant good luck/wealth etc so we just kept jumping and touching it whenever we see one! #kiasusingaporeans hehe
Shopping street leading up to Senso-ji Temple!
Came across this stall too and there were SO MANY NEWSPAPER CUTTINGS! I knew I had to give it a try!
Super tam-jia(greedy) leh me.. everything also must try!!
I forgot how it tasted like already so it probably wasn't that good at all. Hahaha.
but it certainly looks like mua-chee from the pictures... yes?? hehe
ICE CREAM STORE!
Seeing this picture makes me sad :( We wanted to give this ice cream a try after walking past.. so we returned to the store like 10mins after we walked past it and IT WAS CLOSED ALREADY. OMG?? :( Looks super nice leh the ice cream!! So many flavours somemore. Sigh pies
Cutie keychains!
And we finally arrived at Senso-ji Temple!
I MISS MY PURPLE HAIR!!! I feel like having them back again.......
Need to revive my hair soooo badly... can't wait for my next Shunji Matsuo visit ^^
Anyway super love Japan cuz even though I am wearing this ridiculous attention seeking cat ears hairband.. NO ONE REALLY GAVE A SHIT ABOUT IT. Lol. Love it!! In Singapore, I'll probably be already receiving weird stares..
We went to get our fortune done too! There's this wooden container filled with numbered sticks inside and all you gotta do is to shake this container until a stick drops out. Take this stick to the counter in exchange for this slip of paper which would explain your fortune!
So... only Jj had the BEST FORTUNE. Both Karx and I both had BAD FORTUNE.
very very sad. yknow I visited so many temples in Japan.. especially in Kyoto and every fortune was BAD. Like either BAD fortune or WORST fortune. Lol. While Jj is totally the opposite of me.. he either gets the BEST or second best fortune. Sighhhhh. Such is my life... :(
luck luck baby come to me!
Continued walking around the streets of Asakusa..
This mascot is also all over Asakusa. On the streets, on the rooftop, on buildings..
Haha and pardon my idiotic action. I wanted to imitate it and Jj just looked so.. forced and unwilling lol.
The crave for ice cream was still there and so we decided to just grab one from a random stall!
Mixed Green Tea and Vanilla! ^^
Pretty flowers!!! :D
Next stop was to ROPPONGI to visit Tokyo Tower!
Which kinda looks like a fake Eiffel Tower!!

Always hated taking pictures at observatory places esp at night!! Cuz its so difficult!?! If you don't switch on ur flash, your face is gonna appear quite dark and picture might be quite noisy/pixelated.
BUT, if you switch on ur flash, the background will totally be blackened out and only your face will receive the light! Which is quite useless since you wanna take picture of your face PLUS the background. Also, since there are glass panels, high chances the flash will be reflected by the glass and your pictures will turn out like shit.
And then I always have to rely on picture editing software to brighten up the picture without overexposing the background.. which is soooooo bloody troublesome!!
Then somehow that day, an idea struck me!!
WE COULD USE THE CAMERA LIGHT FROM THE IPHONE!! OMG DOPE
Behind-the-scene on how the above selfie picture came about! Hahahah
YES MUCH BETTER :D Whole picture is much brighter and background could also be seen! :D
My loving bf!!
This is where I got my Hellokitty souvenir coin too! Super cute hao bu hao!
MUACKXZXZXZ ♥
After Tokyo Tower, we took the train to AKASAKA (Not Asakusa ah!) for our dinner!
Super hyped for our dinner cuz we are visiting a THEME RESTAURANT!
NINJA AKASAKA
2-14-3 Nagatacho, Akasaka Tokyo Plaza
+81 3-5157-3936 (Reservations is a MUST!!)
As the name suggests... THIS PLACE REALLY DAMN NINJA OKAY!
Had such a difficult time searching for it and had to ask countless people for the directions!
(picture taken from google)
The exterior of the restaurant is shown on the left. TELL ME GOT MORE NINJA ANOT!!
Anyone who walked past it also won't realised its a restaurant right!! So happy when we found it cuz we were all so cold and famished!
Upon entering, a Ninja Waiter would be allocated to you.
We had to go through a 'Ninja Training' by creeping through obstacle pavement which was almost pitched black and the ceilings were low. There were broken bridges and the ninja warrior would do some 'magic' to reconstruct the bridge so we could walk past and there were also other secret passages!! In short, the whole experience was just SUPER COOL though abit cheesy lol. Wanted to video/take pics of the entire process but it was just too dark and everything was happening too quickly!
It made me even more excited cuz this was only the beginning and it was already so good!!
Finally we were led out of the secret passage and entered the restaurant where we were greeted by more Ninjas waiters!
We couldn't see the other diners cuz everyone were inside their own ninja room!
All we could hear were laughters and more laughters! Will tell you more about it later ;)
We were then brought to our own Ninja room!
Lol just had to copy their Ninja pose!
Ninja menu on a scroll!!
So after the waiters gave us the menu scroll, they told us that once we are done choosing our set, we gotta press a SECRET BUTTON to notify the Ninja Waiters. And where is this button?? They didn't say. WE GOT TO FIND IT OURSELVES!!
Lol. So for the next 5mins or so, we were like idiots searching the entire room only to realise the button was.. UNDER THE TABLE. Lol. *smacks forehead* please
Jj and I had the 6999yen set while Karx had the 5999set so we had 3 more dishes than Karx!
Shuriken Star Blades Grissini!
This was foie grass if I remembered correctly!
Yummy ninja cracker :D
Our kawaii Ninja waitress!
Ninja-Style Cream Puff! Oishii!!!
Sorry but I forgot what is this dish!! Can't even remember if it belonged to Karx or mine. LOL
See.. this is what happens when you take a long time to blog about your travelogue!
And Escargots! They set it on fire and cooked it infront of us :D
Turban Shell bombs (escargots) with Garlic Butter!
Special stone-boiled soup (Japanese bouillabaisse)
Autumn Vegetable Cocktail topped with whipped Japanese stock!
OMG?? I cannot remember who ate this again. LOL.
It was probably our Mystery dish which came in mine and Jj's set.. hehehe. Or.. it could be Karx. lol
Capellini in Japanese Tomato flavour!
Meat speciality of the day which was Beef I think!
And Jj's seafood dish of the day!
Karx's Salmon :D
Finally a group shot!! It was hard to get the waitress to snap pictures for us. Because they were really ninjas like that. They entered and left the room in extreme speed lol.
SUSHI LOVIN :)
And finally..... the reason why other diners were laughing!!
A Ninja Magician would enter ur room to perform magic to entertain you!! :D
So damn difficult to capture a candid shot of him!!
His Ninja action is always 24/7 ready for the camera!
Wanted to record the magic show for memories sake but my cam's battery was already blinking RED!
I was so afraid that it would die on me anytime.. thus no videos :(
But it was truly an enjoyable moment! I love Ninja Akasaka!!
Finally it was desserts time!!
Super cute please!! I couldn't bear to eat it!! Hehe
Even the toilet was sooooo pretty!!
After our meal, a Ninja waiter would walk us out the restaurant and I just had to snap a shot with him!
THANK YOU NINJA AKASAKA FOR THIS WONDERFUL AND MEMORABLE DINNER!
So anyway.. the ninja guy was just there standing and looking at us. We felt really weird like.. why isn't he going back in??
And then he asked us if we will be leaving.. we said yea. And then...
.
.
.
He just suddenly flashed this 'PLEASE COME AGAIN' scroll.
LOL SUPER CUTE PLEASE!!
And he stayed in this position in the cold until we totally left his sight! Omg super touched!!
My verdict:
I was initially worried that it would be another lame 'Theme restaurant' where the focus would be on the ambience and NOT the food (eg: Hellokitty cafe) The dinner wasn't a cheap one either so I was really hesistant. BUT I WAS SO GLAD I CAME!! I had no regrets! The food WAS GREAT. Portions were small but it was more than enough to fill us up since there were 8 to 12 dishes depending on which set you choose.
Even though price was on the high side, the ambience made up for it, the food was legit and service was uber awesome! There really isn't much complains for this Ninja Theme Restaurant!
It's really a cool and fun dining experience so do remember to check this out if you're in Tokyo! ;)
4.5/5 ✮
Headed back to the hotel to rest after a whole day of fun!
All the Tokyo bananas and other stuff we bought!! They were crazily heavy.. how did we even manage to hand carry these back to the hotel, to Hongkong and eventually BACK TO SINGAPORE? lol.
Can't wait to share Tokyo Day 6 with you guys!!
It was yet another uber fun day!! :D Hope you guys enjoyed this travelogue post and thanks for reading!
